LDC - Skills For Jobs

LDC - Skills For Jobs is a project that aims to develop learners to the point where they are ready to enter employment and to support them in their progression into employment.  The project is funded by the Learning & Skills Council through the Derbyshire Learning & Development Consortium. The aims of the project are:

 •    To provide individually tailored, easily accessible help to gain the soft skills needed to obtain and sustain employment.

 •  To target service user groups who are not in employment, over the age of 18, and       awaiting access to vocational training.

The target outcomes are around self esteem and confidence, general and specific job seeking skills and individual determination to overcome barriers. The course runs from March 2008 to July 2008 and tailor-made courses include:-

Each and every participant has access to qualified mentors throughout the project.

JET’s state of the art IT suite is accessible to service users whenever they want, as are the facilities of our partners downstairs, Livelihood.

Individual Learning Records, Individual Learning Plans, Assessments, Progress Reviews and Individual Target Setting are key elements of this exciting programme.

The project fits perfectly within JET’s core purpose which is “To reduce social deprivation, to deliver Jobs Education and Training and to improve economic prosperity throughout the community”.
