Coaching + Mentoring
Jobs, Education and Training, in partnership with the Derbyshire Education Business Partnership and Connexions Derbyshire, are encouraging local role models to participate in this coaching and mentoring project and to support local people from the community.
There is local and national evidence which endorses the fact that mentoring is a successful way to tackle disengagement, underachievement and unemployment. The Normanton 19+ Mentoring programme aims to help residents overcome the barriers they face in search of employment. The project aims to match mentors who have proven experience of the world of work with mentees needing support into employment.
The project will recruit 50 local mentors who will support around 75 local people. The aims of the project are:
To develop a mentoring programme for residents (aged 19 and over) living in the Normanton Regeneration area.
To establish links and referral systems (for the Mentoring programme) with local providers and community and voluntary organisations.
To assist residents of the Normanton Regeneration area to secure permanent employment.
To increase the confidence and employability of the target groups
To increase the number of beneficiaries accessing employment
